OBJECTIVES
To provide supervision of state developmental work and carry out developmental
work of a minor nature on waters of Region 3~B,
DISCUSSION
Personnel from F-S—R spent #0 man days treating the vegetation and eliminating
the fish in Lake_Ascarte at El Paso during August, 1960. Results of this work are
given in the reports for FulB—D-2, JOb lSall and lehath, Job 16a29, respectively,
Also, in August project personnel spent hlé man days treating Lake Sweetwater in Nolan
County and its watershed to effect a total kill of all fisho The results of this
treatment can be found in the report, F-lhmeh, Job 16a23.
'In January, 1960, one half man day was spent transporting 12 flathead catfish,
Exlodictus olivaris, to Champion Creek Reservoir at Colorado City, These fish had
been saved from netting collections, The watershed of this neW'reservoir was treated
for a total kill under a former rough fish control project, Job 16a15, Project lehw
Dw3a Project personnel felt it would be desirable to reintroduce flathead catfish in
this watershed because of their predation on undesirable fish and because of their
value as a sport species.
During the segment a total of 192 man days were spent in controlling bulrushes,
Scirpus EB?) and cattails, Expha s23, at Lake Nasworthy at San Angelo. The results
of this procedure are given in the completion report for lefiwa2, Job 15a7.
