--- Page 1 --- Job Completion Report State of TEXAS Project No. F-5-R-8 Name: Fisheries Investigations and Surveys of the Waters of Region 3-B. Job No. S-1 Titles Supervision of Regional Developmental Work. Period covered: April 1, 1960 - February 28, 1961 OBJECTIVES To provide supervision of state developmental work and carry out developmental work of a minor nature on waters of Region 3=B. DISCUSSION Personnel from F-5-R spent 40 man days treating the vegetation and eliminating the fish in Lake Ascarte at El Paso during August, 1960. Results of this work are given in the reports for F-15-D-2, Job 15all and F-14-D-4, Job 16a29, respectively. Also, in August project personnel spent 41s man days treating Lake Sweetwater in Nolan County and its watershed to effect a total kill of all fish. The results of this treatment can be found in the report, F-14-D-4, Job 16a23. In January, 1960, one half man day was spent transporting 12 flathead catfish, Pylodictus olivaris, to Champion Creek Reservoir at Colorado City. These fish had been saved from netting collections. The watershed of this new reservoir was treated for a total kill under a former rough fish control project, Job 16al5, Project F-1)~ D-3. Project personnel felt it would be desirable to reintroduce flathead catfish in this watershed because of their predation on undesirable fish and because of their value as a sport species. During the segment a total of 192 man days were spent in controlling bulrushes, Scirpus sp., and cattails, Typhe sp., at Lake Nasworthy at San Angelo. The results of this procedure are given in the completion report for F-15-D-2, Job L5a7. Prepared by James F. Wilcox Approved by YZ A AevAz Assistant Project Leader Director Inland Fisheries Division Date May 8, 1961
