Identification Comments
McClure-Baker, Sherri A., Anthony A. Echelle, Ronald A. van den Bussche, Alice F. Echelle, Dean A. Hendrickson, and Gary P. Garrett. 2010. “Genetic Status of Headwater Catfish in Texas and New Mexico: A Perspective from MtDNA and Morphology.” Transactions of the American Fisheries Society 139 (6):1780–91. https://doi.org/10.1577/T10-009.1 said: 'we examined radiographs of another 1903 specimen, collected by Dr. Henry A. Pilsbry from the Río Grande at Del Río (ANSP 24363) that was determined originally by Henry Fowler to be channel catfish. On the basis of radiographs and the meristic characters mentioned above, it too appears to be a headwater catfish.'
