ID Status: Specimen examined and ID'ed for FoTX project
ID Comments: 23 anal rays; HL=28.04mm; SL=101.38mm; BD=22.43mm; HL goes 3.6 into SL; BD goes 4.5 into SL; 22 GR; 2 other specimens in jar previously ID'ed by DAH who's comments follow: 'key out close to catus, but in some keys I get to nebulosus. Never do they fit any keys that I've tried perfectly for either species, however. We have no other catus specimens here (at least not currently identified as such), so I had no comparative material on hand...'
ID Confidence: medium

suspect flag — We have moderate confidence in the ID as A. catus despite large and well-preserved specimens. Second opinions would be in order, but we feel confident this is not A. natalis or A. melas. Record needs more research. Possibility of labeling or database error cannot be ruled out. No original labels in jar except the original ID label by Humphries and Cashner who determine this to be 'Ictalurus catus' on Mar 9, 1982.
