Habitat Associations

Freshwater. benthopelagic. Found in: streams, lakes.

Biology

Inhabit gravel- and rubble-bottomed pools and runs of creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 86798). Juveniles and young adults live in quieter waters with less coarse substrates (Ref. 10294). Feed mainly on midge and blackfly larvae (Ref. 10294).
Max length: 13.0 cm TL.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC), assessed 2011-11-15. Resilience: Medium (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
