Biology
Occurs in hard, clear waters with pH 7.8-8.3, over rock substrate. Found syntopic with Nosferatu pame, N. steindachneri, Xiphophorus montezumae, Gambusia panuco, and Astyanax mexicanus among other fish species (Ref. 99935).
Max length: 18.0 cm TL.
Reproductive mode: dioecism; fertilization: external; guarders (clutch tenders); parental care: biparental. Both parents tend the clutch (Ref. 47076).
IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (VU), assessed 2018-08-16. Resilience: Medium (Fec=200-300).
