Jaws extend slightly less than twice eye diameter beyond posterior margin of orbit, and maxilla is slightly expanded posteriorly. Posterior margin of operculum is concave dorsally and convex ventrally. Gill rakers number 14. Dorsal fin originates posterior to pelvic fin base and has 13 or 14 rays. Pectoral fin extends to origin of anal fin and has 13 rays. Anal fin originates under posterior one-third of dorsal fin base and has 17 or 18 rays. Vn is small. PVO is above and anterior to PVOi. PLO is 1.5 to 2.5 times its diameter below lateral line. Five PO are present, with PO4 highly elevated and behind PO3. VLO is closer to lateral line than to pelvic fin base. Four VO are present. SAO form obtuse angle, with SAOx over or slightly anterior to VO3, and SAO3 over or anterior to anal fin origin and in contact with lateral line. Two Pol are nearly in straight line with last AOa, and P0I2 is within its diameter of lateral line. AOa number six or seven, and AOp number six or seven, with first behind, but occasionally over, anal fin base. Four Prc are continuous with AOp series, with first three forming arc, and last on level with lateral line.
