Distribution
North America: occurs only in the USA from Georgia in Ogeechee River to Alabama in Perdido River, south to central Florida. One record from Escatawpa River drainage in southeastern Mississippi.
Habitat Associations
Freshwater. pelagic.
Biology
Inhabits surface waters of swamps, vegetated sloughs, and quiet water areas of creeks and small rivers. 2.9 cm max TL (Ref. 5723). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
Max length: 3.0 cm TL; common length: 2.0 cm TL; max age: 2 years.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC), assessed 2012-03-01. Resilience: High (tmax=2).
