Inhabits clean rocky riffles, shoals and runs of small to large rivers. Often found near vegetation (Ref. 5723, 10294). Feeds on larvae of aquatic insects, dominated by mayflies (Ref. 10294).
Max length: 13.0 cm TL; common length: 4.4 cm TL; max age: 5 years.
Reproductive mode: dioecism; fertilization: external.
