Characters
Females are short and deep with a relatively short snout, large mouth extending beyond eye, lower jaw with symphyseal spine, slender and depressible jaw teeth (about 28 in upper and lower jaws), sphenotic spines behind eye, double articular spines on posterior corner of lower jaw, partially invaginated posterior appendage on back above pectoral fin base, relatively short and broad pectoral lobe with 14 rays, illicium on snout about 74% of SL, pterygiophore of illicium long and protruding on back, esca compressed and transparent with specific features (large black inner bullose photophore, long filament on left side, single short club-tipped prolongation on right side, short delicate cluster of filaments centrally), second dorsal fin with 5 rays, anal fin with 4 rays, caudal fin with 9 rays, and naked skin.
